Sails and Rigging

The rig is a Double Headsail Ketch. Both masts and booms are 'Kemp/Seldon' of the U.K. Both masts are fitted with 'Antal' tracks and cars for easy raising and lowering of the sails. Main and mizzen sails are full battened and rigged with Doyle Stackpacs for easy raising and storage of sails.

The main mast is keel stepped with double spreaders. The main boom is rigged for slab, or jiffy, reefing with three reef points. The reefing lines are led to 2 Andersen winches on the cabin top. The boom is sheeted to the pilothouse roof with blocks on either side running to two Andersen Winches in the cockpit.

The mizzenmast is deck stepped on the cockpit sole with a compression block between the fuel tanks. The mizzenmast is rigged independently from the main mast. The boom is sheeted to the bimini arch and the sheet is run to an Andersen winch on the back of the mizzenmast.

All standing rigging is 1x19 wire with swage fittings at the top and either Norseman or Stayloc fittings at the lower ends.

The headsail is on a Pro-furl N-42 single-track furler with the line lead to the cockpit thru a Lewmar Rope Clutch. The line from there can be lead to any of three winches as is appropriate.

The headsail sheets are lead through Garhauer Genoa cars on tracks on the caprail. They could also be lead through cars mounted on tracks on the deck.

The staysail is rigged with a Facnor Code-0 furler making it very easy to drop the sail on deck when short-tacking the large 150 Genoa. The sheets are led to the cockpit through Schaeffer cars mounted on tracks on the deck.

The main mast is fitted with running back stays at the upper spreaders. These can be lead through blocks, aft, to either of the Andersen primary winches in the cockpit. The mizzenmast also has running backstays fitted at the masthead, which run through blocks to Lewmar Rope Clutches in the cockpit.

Complete spinnaker gear is provided with 2 deck-mounted poles that can also be used for the twin headsails or to pole out the Genoa as needed. The poles attach to the main mast by two bayonet type pole receivers. There is a Proctor 'Sidewinder' unit on the mast for raising and lowering the inboard end(s) of the poles.
